Dalton
Dalton
I thought I was a hero, like David Bowie talked about,
But you made me feel so meek.
They say in the Bible,
What you sow, you should also reap.
But Religion frowns at men like us,
So, there’ll be no harvest for keeping,
You can have back your vows and steeple.
*
You were; You are; I eventually became
The villain in my own narrative.
Although, to be comparative,
For a season,
I allowed you to be my sedative.
*
Now I tremble, with rage and fear
Each time I steal a glimpse of your poetically ever-curling hair.
You have bestowed upon me this rotten gift, the desire
To no longer breathe air.
*
I have made it sound as if,
You are the sole transgressor.
The guilt is inescapably mine,
I did not give it a second thought,
Before I excavated your mind.
*
Wiser men say,
Once bitten, twice shy.
However- you did not bite me,
You just made me cry.
