Rainfall
Rainfall
Rain used to soothe me.
Each drop fell quietly,
As if to say "be at ease".
Storms would roll in like a blessing,
Water washing away my thoughts, cleansing,
Made me feel like my soul was ascending.
I used to open the windows and listen.
I valued each drop, how they glistened,
And how easily they lifted my tension.
Thunder yelled to me "bad things draw near",
Lightening said to me "pain is momentary, dear",
Droplets whispered, "it is okay, let go of fear".
But lately, I sit in silence,
Watching as my creative rivers dry up.
If I could but replenish them with my tears,
I'd drown myself right up to my ears.
